Our Story
The Emaline story begins in 1987, when entrepreneur Carol Anderson launched the brand in her home state of Pennsylvania. Carol was a single mother of two young daughters, and she struggled to find affordable, fashionable clothing that fit her petite frame. After years of altering and tailoring garments to suit her needs, Carol realized other women must be facing the same challenges. So she set out to create a line of clothing specifically tailored for petite bodies.
Carol started small, selling her collections locally under the name Petite Sophisticates. As word spread about the brand’s impeccable fit and flattering silhouettes, demand grew quickly. Within a few years, Carol changed the name to Emaline and expanded distribution along the East Coast.
In the early 2000s, Carol’s daughters, Jill and Julie, joined the company. Bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas, the sisters led Emaline into a new era of growth and innovation. They focused on creating modern, versatile pieces women could wear from work to weekends. Emaline also expanded sizing to be more inclusive of all bodies.
